Which hill station near Dehradun suits your trip depends on your available time, interests and group. Instead of selecting only the shortest distance, decide whether you want a town walk, a forest stay, a lake-area outing or an overnight break. 1. Mussoorie: a town-based day trip or short stay

Choose Mussoorie when your priority is a town visit, a short walk and places close to your hotel. Plan the permitted drop and parking before arrival. A normal town transfer does not automatically include Kempty Falls, Landour and every other excursion.

2. Landour: choose a modest walk and a specific stop

3. Dhanaulti: forest surroundings and an overnight option

Consider Dhanaulti for a stay focused on the surroundings rather than a long attraction checklist. Confirm the exact property and approach. If the Eco Park is a priority, check visitor arrangements before fixing your day.

4. Kanatal: plan around the stay

Kanatal may suit a stay-led break with selected local activities. Ask the accommodation about its road approach, any final walk, weather expectations and the activities actually included. A camp description does not confirm every advertised adventure activity is operating.

5. Chakrata: town base plus separately planned excursions

Choose the accommodation first and add Tiger Falls or Deoban according to access, road time and walking requirements. A cab to Chakrata town is not an all-excursions package. Ask the property and relevant authority about current visitor access where required.
