Dehradun Parking Guide 2026: Free & Paid Options, ISBT & Paltan Bazaar

Looking for parking in Dehradun before visiting Paltan Bazaar, Clock Tower, Rajpur Road or ISBT? Choose your parking around the place you actually need to reach, the size of your vehicle and how long you will stay. A shopping visit, a bus pickup and leaving a car for a three-day trek need different arrangements.

Where to park for Paltan Bazaar and Clock Tower

The official MDDA project listing identifies a multi-storey parking and shopping complex near Clock Tower. For a central-market visit, check this facility as a parking candidate and plan the final walk separately. Search MDDA Clock Tower parking on Maps.

If you are shopping with parents or carrying purchases, decide the return meeting point before you leave the vehicle. Save the parking level, take a photo of your bay and keep the ticket. Walking convenience depends on the entrance used and your destination; this guide does not promise a fixed walking time.

Rajiv Gandhi Complex on Dispensary Road is another facility to enquire about. UHUDA lists a June 2026 procurement notice for installing, operating and managing its parking. A tender notice is evidence of the project, not confirmation of today's opening hours or overnight permission. Check the UHUDA document listing.

Parade Ground parking, Tibetan Market and the free Sakhi shuttle

A 9 June 2026 local report describes paid parking at Parade Ground and a facility opposite Tibetan Market Gate No. 7. These are options to investigate for the surrounding shopping area. The report does not establish a current tariff schedule for every vehicle.

Search Parade Ground automated parking or search Tibetan Market parking. Before using automated parking, confirm the accepted height, width, weight and roof-carrier rules for your specific vehicle.

Free shuttle is different from free parking. An October 2025 Sakhi shuttle launch report described free EV drops within a five-kilometre radius of Parade Ground parking. Ask the parking operator whether the service is running on your day, which stops it serves and whether a return journey is available. Do not assume a free shuttle means a free parking ticket or a guaranteed round trip.

Parking near ISBT Dehradun: cars, bikes and bus pickups

ISBT parking deserves its own plan. The Uttarakhand government tender portal records an MDDA tender published on 7 April 2026 for parking operations at ISBT and City Junction Mall (Tender ID: 2026_MDDA_93930_1). It supports including these facilities in your search, but does not confirm today's contractor, spaces, charges or overnight access.

Search ISBT / City Junction Mall parking on Maps. At the approach, ask the attendant specifically for private-car parking or two-wheeler parking. A bus bay, taxi stand or auto queue is not automatically visitor parking.

March 2025 reporting described colour-coded spaces beneath the flyover for different vehicle categories. December 2025 reporting then described further directions for organised parking and a roadside parking project. Picking someone up from ISBT?

Ask your passenger to share the bus operator, arrival estimate and the landmark they can actually see. Agree a permitted pickup point after arrival. If the bus is delayed, use an authorised waiting area rather than stopping on the service road or blocking a terminal gate.

Where can you find free parking in Dehradun?

Apart from our booking-linked customer offer above, this research did not establish a current, unconditional list of free public car parks across Dehradun. That does not mean none exist; it means we cannot responsibly label a roadside space or private property as free public parking without evidence.

One useful lead is Pacific Mall in Jakhan: the official Max store listing advertises free parking on site. Treat this as a customer-parking claim to confirm at the mall, not permission to leave a vehicle all day while visiting somewhere else. Store hours also do not prove parking opening hours.

• Customer parking: ask whether it is only for visitors and whether a purchase or validation is required.
• Hotel parking: ask your booked property whether a space is included, reserved and suitable for your car.
• Roadside space: no attendant or payment booth does not prove parking is permitted.
• Festival parking: a temporary event arrangement should not be treated as a year-round option.

Dehradun parking charges: what should you budget?

There is no verified single citywide rate in the sources reviewed. Older articles quote different slabs, so this guide does not re-label those figures as October 2026 prices. The current entrance tariff and receipt should guide your payment.

Before parking, ask: What is the first slab? When does the next slab begin? Are taxes included? Does midnight start another charge? What happens if the ticket is lost? A short stop can still trigger a minimum charge. If the displayed board and requested amount differ, ask the operator to explain the applicable slab and issue a receipt.

Can you leave a car overnight or for 2–3 days?

Do not assume a day-use lot permits a multi-day stay. Confirm overnight permission, the total cost for your actual entry and exit times, whether the gate opens when you return, and who to contact if your bus or trek finishes late. Ask about security arrangements rather than assuming a facility is guarded or insured.

For ISBT, verify this before boarding your bus. For a trek, confirm it before leaving the city. Keep the receipt and operator contact, photograph the car's condition and remove valuables. These are planning steps, not a guarantee against damage or theft.

Parking an Innova Crysta, Tempo Traveller or Force Urbania

Check vehicle dimensions, not just available seats. A roof carrier can affect clearance, and an automated system may have model-specific limits. Group vans also need enough space for turning and passengers to board. Get the facility's permission before taking a larger vehicle down a ramp or into a mechanical bay.

For sightseeing groups, ask your driver to coordinate permitted drop points and suitable waiting areas before the trip. Vehicle hire does not remove parking restrictions or make every destination accessible to a large van.

When a local taxi makes more sense than self-driving

Self-driving can suit a single stop with confirmed parking. A taxi can be useful when your family has several stops, the trip starts at ISBT, or you would rather avoid repeatedly finding bays and walking back with shopping. Compare the full cost of each option; a taxi is not automatically cheaper.

• Couples and smaller groups: request a sedan suitable for your luggage.
• Family sightseeing: ask about an Innova Crysta and confirm the exact passenger-and-bag arrangement.
• Group outings: explore Tempo Traveller and Force Urbania rental; verify access for the planned stops.

Before confirming a cab, agree the included hours and kilometres, waiting allowance, additional-stop charges and who pays parking. A drop-only booking and a vehicle retained for sightseeing are different services.
