Kedarnath is a pilgrimage centre located in Uttarakhand, India. It lies at a height of 3584 m above sea level and is one of the ‘char dhams’ identified by Hinduism as the most religious places. It is also the remotest and the hardest to reach dham of all the four places.
Kedarnath is named after King Kedar, who occupies a place in mythology. According to a mythological account, King Kedar ruled the present day Kedarnath during the Satyuga period. He had a daughter named Vrinda, who was Goddess Lakshmi’s human incarnation. Vrinda is supposed to have lived an ascetic life for 60000 years, praying to the Lord all the while. Vrindavan is named in honour of her.

Kedarnath
Kedarnath, nestled in the Rudraprayag district, is one of the holiest Hindu shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva. The Kedarnath Temple, believed to have been built by the Pandavas. The temple is located near the Mandakini River and surrounded by majestic peaks, including the Kedarnath Mountain. The arduous trek to the temple is a test of faith and endurance.
Badrinath
Badrinath sits between the Nar and Narayana mountains. The Badrinath Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, is one of the most important temples in India. Pilgrims come to the temple seeking divine favor and to purify themselves in the holy waters of Tapt Kund, a natural hot spring. including the Alaknanda River and Neelkanth Peak.
Gangotri
Gangotri is the birthplace of the Ganges River and holds immense religious significance. The Gangotri Temple, dedicated to Goddess Ganga, is the focal point of the town. The area is surrounded by stunning landscapes, including snow-capped mountains and lush forests.
Yamunotri
Yamunotri is the source of the Yamuna River and the first stop on the Chardham pilgrimage. The centerpiece of Yamunotri is the temple dedicated to Goddess Yamuna. Pilgrims also visit the sacred hot springs at Janki Chatti, where they can cook rice in the boiling water to offer at the temple. The serene environment and breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks make Yamunotri a spiritually uplifting destination.
