How Sonprayag works in the yatra season
In season the administration stops private vehicles at Sonprayag. Parking is in managed lots, a shuttle covers the 5 km to Gaurikund, and from Gaurikund it is 16 km on foot, pony or palki to the temple, with Bhimbali and Lincholi as the rest points. Most pilgrims sleep at Guptkashi or Sitapur, reach Sonprayag by 5 am for the shuttle, and are at Kedarnath by early afternoon.
Your taxi does not wait at Sonprayag for two days; there is nowhere for it to. We drop you, the driver halts at Guptkashi or returns to base, and comes back for the agreed pickup. For a one-way drop, we simply leave you at the shuttle point.

The Kedarnath calendar sets everything
The temple opens around late April or early May and closes near Bhai Dooj in late October or early November. May and June are the crowded months, when the Sonprayag parking and shuttle queues are longest and a 4 am arrival is worth it. September and October are the settled, clearer months and our preferred time. July and August are wet, the trek is slippery, and slides can close the Mandakini road for hours; we keep a spare day.
Outside the season there is no shuttle, no trek and the temple is shut. We can still drive you to Sonprayag, but tell us why, because the answer changes what we recommend.

Yes. From Guptkashi the road via Ukhimath, Chopta and Gopeshwar reaches the Badrinath corridor at Chamoli without going back through Rudraprayag. Book it as a Do Dham circuit and the same driver stays with you.
