The road is the same throughout: Devprayag where the Ganga is born, Srinagar for lunch, Rudraprayag, Karnaprayag, Chamoli, then the slow, controlled last 60 km through Pipalkoti and Joshimath. Two-lane hill road from Srinagar on, 30 to 35 km/h, and the gate beyond Joshimath decides your evening.

The Badrinath season
The temple opens in late April or early May and closes around Bhai Dooj. May-June and September-October are the settled months and the busiest. Monsoon keeps the road open with interruptions at Helang and Pipalkoti; we keep a spare day. Outside the season the road beyond Joshimath is closed.
We do not take one-day bookings that start after 6 am. Later than that, it is a Joshimath halt, and we say so up front.
