Two road options Airport & station drops Fixed fare

Quick answer: Chandigarh is about 208 km from Rishikesh and takes 5 to 5.5 hours. West through Dehradun, across the Yamuna at Paonta Sahib, through Nahan and down into Panchkula — or the flatter Saharanpur road when weather or roadworks say so. Pickup from any ashram, camp or hotel; drop at Chandigarh airport, the station, or any address in Chandigarh, Mohali or Panchkula. Fares depend on vehicle and whether you need a one-way drop or a round trip — the table below is live from our rate desk. Call 7830211223 to confirm.

Rishikesh to Punjab

A lot of Rishikesh's visitors come from Chandigarh, Mohali and Ludhiana, and the return is this road. From Rishikesh it is 45 km to Dehradun, then the Paonta Sahib crossing into Himachal, Nahan, Kala Amb, and into Panchkula from the hills. The alternative drops to Saharanpur and runs the plains through Yamunanagar and Ambala; it is flatter, better in fog, and we use it when the Nahan road is slow.

Chandigarh airport is a common drop — people who flew into Jolly Grant and out of Chandigarh, or the reverse. Allow five and a half hours plus check-in.

The Paonta road

  • Rishikesh → Dehradun — 45 km
  • Paonta Sahib — the Yamuna crossing
  • Nahan → Kala Amb — the Sirmaur foothills
  • Panchkula → Chandigarh (208 km)

The Saharanpur road

  • Dehradun → Mohand → Saharanpur
  • Yamunanagar → Ambala — plains
  • Joins the Delhi-Chandigarh highway
  • Better in fog and heavy monsoon

Drops

  • Chandigarh International Airport
  • Chandigarh railway station
  • Mohali and Panchkula addresses
  • On to Amritsar, Ludhiana or Shimla with the same driver

Vehicle advice

  • Sedan for two with bags
  • Innova or Crysta for a family
  • Tempo Traveller for a group leaving a retreat
  • All vehicles toll-tagged

Timing

All year, all hours. Fog on the plains in December and January adds half an hour on either road; we prefer Paonta in daylight and Saharanpur at night in those weeks. Monsoon can slow the Nahan section; we switch roads if needed.

For a Chandigarh airport departure, allow six hours from a Rishikesh pickup.

Rishikesh to Chandigarh taxi — questions people ask

How far is Chandigarh from Rishikesh?

About 208 km and 5 to 5.5 hours, via Dehradun, Paonta Sahib and Nahan, or via Saharanpur and Yamunanagar on the plains.

Can you drop me at Chandigarh airport?

Yes. Allow six hours from pickup to departure, and we set the pickup from your flight time.

Which road do you take?

Paonta Sahib and Nahan when clear; it is shorter and scenic. Saharanpur when fog or rain makes the hills slow. We decide on the day and tell you.

Will you pick up from an ashram on the Swarg Ashram side?

Yes, from either bank. It adds a few minutes via the bridge road and nothing to the fare.

Can I continue to Amritsar or Shimla?

Yes. Chandigarh to Amritsar is about 230 km, to Shimla about 115 km. Book it as one trip.
